“Iota
Women Of Vision Committed To Action and Global Connection In The Twenty
First Century”
Dear Sorors:
We
are committed to carry out the beliefs of
our founder, Mrs. Lola Mercedes Parker to
elevate the status of business women and
to encourage women to seek higher formal
training.
The
Eastern Region is in a unique position, especially
with it being located along the corridor
that includes the hub of the political environment
of Washington, DC and the international affairs
of the United Nations of New York City, New
York. The Eastern Region includes the following
states, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey,
Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, the District
of Columbia, West Virginia, Virginia and
the US Virgin Islands. Iota Phi Lambda is
the first Sorority recognized as a member
of the United Nations as a Non Governmental
Organization (NGO).
Here
in the Eastern Region we carry the legacy
as the second and third chapters chartered
by Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc., Beta Chapter,
Hartford, CT and Gamma Chapter, Washington,
DC. We are happy to be the home of the current
National President, Dr. Doris Browning Austin.
Members of the Eastern Region are committed
to support and carry out the goals of our
National President. The Eastern Region is
also proud to be the home of two Past National
Presidents, Dr. Evelyn Sears Peevy and Mrs.
Charlotte M. Maull. I am proud to serve as
Regional Director in this region.
All
Sorors, Men of Iota, Pelati, FIL, and guest
are invited to join us at the 74th Eastern
Regional Conference April 7-10, 2011 in Baltimore,
MD at the Radisson Plaza Lord Baltimore Hotel.
The Eastern Region Executive Committee and
Kappa Chapter will co-host this conference
and are planning professional workshops,
network sessions, and a celebration of the
Eastern Region’s accomplishments.
Looking
forward to great things happening in the
Eastern Region for this Sorority Year, 2010-2011.
Sisterly,
Catherine
C. Winston
